Paris, France, [26 October] – CCE Group has joined The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) to work with fellow members on shared operational challenges, contributing expertise in cargo equipment, protection and digital technology to help improve safety, equipment utilisation and sustainability across the air cargo supply chain.
CCE Group’s Cargo Solutions Division, led by President Charles Drummond, brings together AviusULD and Trip & Co, combining expertise in the design and manufacture of ULDs, certified cargo nets, tie-down straps, thermal protection and fire-containment products. These core capabilities are complemented by tracking and sensing technology that gives customers visibility of equipment location, occupancy and emerging safety risks, helping improve equipment utilisation, cargo protection and safety while reducing total cost of ownership.
TIACA represents stakeholders throughout the international air cargo supply chain, including shippers, airlines, airports, ground handlers, freight forwarders, manufacturers and technology providers. Through participation in industry discussions and knowledge sharing, CCE Group aims to contribute experience spanning equipment engineering, equipment tracking and sensing technology, and cargo protection. Closer exchange with fellow members will also help the Group align product development with the needs of the people who operate and handle cargo equipment.
“Strong ecosystems are built by people who show up and contribute,” said Klaus Hofmann, Group CEO of CCE Group. “We expect the coming decade to bring major changes in how cargo equipment is designed, protected and tracked, how data is used and how the industry responds to safety risks. Our Cargo Solutions Division is already moving beyond manufacturing into connected solutions, and we want to help shape that progress alongside the wider industry. Through TIACA, we look forward to sharing our experience, giving our time and learning from fellow members so that these advances deliver practical benefits across the supply chain.”
AviusULD’s SmartULD illustrates this shift. Developed with technology partner eloc8, the system harvests energy from movement and vibration to recharge its tracking devices and communicates through existing cellular networks, without requiring dedicated readers or gateways at each location. Location and occupancy information helps operators find ULDs and identify whether containers are empty or loaded, extending visibility beyond airports into warehouses and other cargo facilities.
The SmartULD ecosystem also includes Fire Tag technology, which detects gases released by failing lithium-ion batteries to provide early warning before thermal runaway. Alongside Trip & Co’s certified cargo nets and tie-down straps, thermal protection and fire-containment products, these capabilities bring tracking, sensing and physical protection together to address a wider range of operational needs.
“A ULD can now tell an operator where it is, whether it is loaded and, with the right sensors, whether there are early warning signs of a lithium-ion battery failure,” said Charles Drummond, President of the Cargo Solutions Division at CCE Group. “That changes the role equipment can play in a cargo operation. We look forward to sharing what we are learning with TIACA members and understanding their priorities, so we can work together on better fleet utilisation, cargo protection and safety.”
